A study published earlier this month in the journal Cell Metabolism has revealed a link between meat and dairy consumption and chronic illnesses such as cancer and diabetes. According to the research, subjects who were between the ages 50 to 65 years old who had high levels of animal-protein intake had death rates that were 75 percent greater within the next 18 years than those who had lower protein levels. The study also showed that those who ate more meat, eggs, and dairy had cancer death rates that were four times greater than those who kept their animal consumption to a minimum. Interestingly enough, veganism posed no threat, and the detrimental disease and high death-rates were not found to be associated diets that were rich with plant-based protein.
