Re-visit the tradition of dipping hot French fries in a cold chocolate Frosty with this recipe from the Vegan Fast Food cookbook. Sounds weird? Maybe. But if you’re a fan of sweet and salty, you get it. For an extra short-cut, you can use canned vegan condensed milk in this recipe instead of making your own.

What you need:

For the sweetened condensed milk:
1 (13.5-ounce) can full-fat coconut milk
⅓ cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the chocolate soft serve:
2 cups vegan chocolate milk
1 (13.5-ounce) can full-fat coconut milk, chilled
¼ cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

What you do:

  1. For the sweetened condensed milk, into a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat, add all ingredients. Simmer and reduce until ½ cup remains. Store in a jar in refrigerator. Milk will thicken once cooled.
  2. For the chocolate soft serve, into an ice cube tray, pour chocolate milk and place in freezer for 6 hours, or overnight. Into a high-speed blender, add sweetened condensed milk, milk cubes, cream scooped from top of coconut milk can, sugar, and vanilla and blend until smooth. Serve immediately.
