Rose syrup―a simple combination of sugar, water, and dried rose petals―adds sweet floral aromas and hints of delicate flavor to this simple chai latte recipe. You can find store-bought rose syrup at most liquor stores or in grocery stores by the flavored syrups for coffee beverages.

What you need:

For the chai spice mix:
3 tablespoons ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon ground cardamom
1 tablespoon ground ginger
½ tablespoon ground allspice
½ tablespoon ground cloves
½ tablespoon ground nutmeg

For the latte:
1 cup coconut milk
1 teaspoon chai spice mix (see recipe above)
1 tablespoon rose syrup
1 tablespoon maple syrup
1 teaspoon salt

What you do:

  1. For the chai spice mix, in a small bowl, combine all ingredients.
  2. For the latte, in a saucepan over medium heat, warm coconut milk until it begins to bubble. Add chai spice mix and stir gently. Add rose syrup, maple syrup, and salt and mix until blended well. Serve warm.
