Using only a handful of ingredients, this rich and creamy beverage is a healthy alternative to dairy chocolate milk with a lovely coconut undertone.

What you need:

2 cups warm water
1 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
2 tablespoons maple syrup or 2 pitted Medjool dates
1½ tablespoons cocoa powder
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of sea salt

What you do:

  1. Using a blender, blend water, coconut, dates, cocoa powder, vanilla, and salt until smooth. For a silky milk consistency, strain mixture through a nut milk bag or a few layers of cheesecloth over a bowl or milk container.
  2. Squeeze gently to remove all liquid. Store milk in a Mason jar in refrigerator for up to 5 days. The milk might separate while sitting, so be sure to give the jar a shake before using.
